KATS Membership
What is KATS?
The Kansas Association of Teachers of Science (KATS) was formed in 1967. Since that time KATS has brought together science educators, student teachers and students from pre-schools, elementary, middle, junior and high schools, colleges and universities to share ideas and techniques for teaching science.
KATS seeks to promote science and excellence in science education for Kansas students.
KATS Activities
KATS is involved in many activities. A sample includes:
  • Exchanging ideas and experiences with other teachers and educators
  • Providing working knowledge of current science standards
  • Helping students excel in science skills and reasoning
  • Supporting innovative teaching
  • Providing Presentations and Workshops of many kinds
  • Providing a website: http://www.kats.org
Membership Benefits
  • Receive a KATS newsletter six times a year with activities you can use with your students, information on upcoming workshops, science websites and other new science information of interest to teachers.
  • KATS KAMP is held on the last weekend of April, Fri. pm to Sun. noon.
    • KATS members and others present their specialties in teaching.
    • More than 100 sessions are open to all Kamp’ers on their free choice.
    • Outstanding personalities are brought in for special assemblies.
    • Exhibitors are present from science supply and book companies.
    • Entertainment is provided on Saturday evening.
    • Housing, meals and annual membership are included in the fee for KAMP. All of this is provided in the beautiful, relaxed Flint Hills atmosphere of the Rock Springs 4-H Conference Center, Junction City, KS
  • KATS provides partnerships with an array of state education agencies and organizations.
  • KATS has earned national recognition as an outstanding NSTA chapter.
  • KATS members have been active in developing the State Standards of Excellence for Education.
  • You are welcome to be a part of this progressive, Science ed. organization for the low price of $30 per year or two years for $50.
